source of current event: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/16/world/middleeast/death-toll-mounts-in-syria-along-with-outside-pressure.html?_r=1&hp

The Arab league, Russia and Turkey are putting pressure on president Bashar al-Assad of Syria to step down. This was caused by the death of more than 71 people on Monday who had clashed with government forces of Syria . This makes the death rate of Syrians since the uprising started in march 3,500 . Turkey, once a close ally of Syria says that plans to look for oil deposits in Syria has been canceled. If things go on as they are, they might also stop their electric services in Syria. 1,180 prisoners who have been arrested in Syria were released a few hours before the calling of president Bashar al-Assad to step down. they were people who were "involved in recent events" and had not committed murder. one of the people freed was lawyer kamal Labwani who was about to get a 15 year sentence for a insulting President al-Assad.

The significance of this event is that it is a huge step toward putting Syrias regime out of power. This might be an end to the death of civilians and soldiers fighting for what they believe in and a free government. this decision made by these countries will make Syrian leaders act more justly. this event stopped Turkeys plans to look for oil deposits in syria. it could lessen Syrias source of electricity. 1. Kidist,

As you are submitting blogs for class please remember that they are still formal assessments and should be treated with the same care that you would treat an essay. You have left off the capitalization of the first word in sentences and in people's names, something you may do in informal emails but that is unacceptable for work that will be submitted to your teacher.
Your analysis is quite weak. You missed an opportunity to richly analyze a movement to oust a leader from the perspective of an enlightenment thinker who believed in the power of the people to revolt against their government.

I wrote the above comment without realizing that this was your submission for Current Events Assignment #2. You have not followed the very specific directions I gave for this assignment. Please refer to the handout that was distributed in class entitled "Current Events Assignment #2".
